PETROPERU helps native communities near the Peruvian Oil Pipeline

It is PETROPERU’s duty to inform that they are still operating the Contingency Plan upon the incident of February 4th identified at the 206 KM of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline (Northern detour) in the district of Morona, province of Datem del Marañon, in the Loreto region.

Among the main activities held by the company, they have blocked the crude oil pumping of the affected detour, they have enabled a helicopter and they are working along with the population to come to a complete restoration of the area.

The company keeps a permanent contact with the people in charge of the plan and the leader of the community. It important to point out the flexibility and predisposition of the native community of Mayuriaga. PETROPERU has already sent qualified workers, as well as equipment and

machinery to repair the damage whose its cause is still under investigation. We must clarified that here hasn't been any signs of contamination in any of the rivers that could have been affected.

This incident has been informed to the supervising offices (Supervisory Organism of Investment in Energy and Mines (OSINERGMIN) and Organism of Environmental Control and Evaluation).

PETROPERU ratifies its compromise with the preservation of the environment and is working a 24 hour shift to repair and restore the incident in a short time period in spite of the harsh climate conditions of the area.
