Petroperú has the capacity to take over the operation of lots in the northwest
Petroperú reaffirmed that it has the capacity to take over the operations of Lots I, VI, X and Z-2B in the northwest of the country, whose contracts are about to expire, as it has been doing since December 2021 -to date- in the Lot I, in the Talara basin, maintaining optimal and sustained production of oil and gas.
According to the technical and economic evaluations, the Northwest lots are operations in production and with a long history of exploitation, with 84 million proven oil reserves, whose operation does not mean a greater risk for the operating company.
As has happened in recent years, the operation of these lots has been profitable and with cash flows that self-finance the required investments, so they do not represent greater indebtedness for the company, on the contrary, it will contribute to strengthening it and guaranteeing the supply of the New Talara Refinery.
Historically, the production of the oil lots in the northwest has been a natural input for the Talara Refinery, a modern Petroperú complex that -as part of its gradual, progressive and safe start-up process- has begun the production of quality fuels to supply the market and guarantee cleaner air for Peruvians.
In this way, Petroperú will continue its firm return to vertical integration, which began with Lot I in Talara, fulfilling its commitment to maintain production efficiently. For this purpose, it has the participation of the personnel that had been working with the previous operator, led by the Exploration, Production and Pipeline Corporate Management, which is made up of professionals specialized in the matter.
On the other hand, it is important to mention that the continuity of the workers in the operations of the batches that will soon return to Petroperú is guaranteed.
It is appropriate to emphasize that the business model and the operation of the Lots will depend on the contractual conditions that are defined with Perupetro S.A., within the framework of its powers.
