Petroperú guarantees permanent maintenance of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline

Petroperú guarantees the integral and permanent maintenance of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline (ONP), thus strengthening the reliability and integrity of the transportation of hydrocarbons, within the requirements of the law.

This was demonstrated by the permanent reports to the Supervisory Body for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin), which is the supervisory and controlling entity and which was explained before the Civil Court of Loreto, during the hearing held for the parties to formulate their oral arguments on a first instance ruling that declared the Marañón River a subject of rights, but which recognizes that Petroperú has demonstrated that it carries out maintenance activities.

Petroperú also complies with a rigorous preventive maintenance plan, which consists of reinforcing the pipeline; changing pipeline sectors where necessary, maintenance of the cathodic protection system -which mitigates external corrosion-; anticorrosive chemical treatment of the hydrocarbons being transported -which mitigates internal corrosion-; maintenance of station equipment, aerial and ground patrol of the right-of-way, as well as cleaning of the right-of-way and the reserve zone where the pipeline runs.

Evidence of the optimal conditions in which the ONP is found is that it was able to resume pumping more than 300 thousand barrels of crude stored at Station 5 in July, thus fulfilling the transport service through Section II, to the Bayóvar Terminal in Piura, in safe and reliable conditions.

Petroperú maintains all sections of the ONP operational to date, reaffirming its commitment to the country's energy development, through the implementation of safe and efficient practices to enhance the value of the Amazon's crude oil reserves.
