PETROPERU gives priority to talara locals in Plant Stop works
The XIII General Inspection of the Talara Refinery Catalytic Cracking Complex, commonly known as "Plant Stop", is a temporary maintenance activity that began on August 6, lasts 37 days and involves 1024 workers.
Of the 1024 workers, 861 are from Talara, representing 84%. The other 12% (126 workers) come from different provinces of the country and ONLY 4% (37 workers) are foreigners, of different nationalities.
As an exceptional case, on August 17, the contractor Ipsycom Ingenieros S.A. reorganized the personnel hired temporarily for this maintenance, due to a reduction in the scope of the contract. To date it has 94 employees, of which 71 are from Talara.
PETROPERU reaffirms that there is no salary discrimination between Peruvians and foreigners, since these are fixed by contractors according to the labor market. In this line, the state oil company carries out a permanent monitoring to guarantee that the contractors that participate in these works comply with the labor obligations of their collaborators, who will be liquidated as they finish the work.
The maintenance of the Talara Refinery Catalytic Cracking Complex has been carried out simultaneously and without interfering with the construction of the new refinery, under a strict industrial safety plan. Its global advance is 63.3% to date, and it is expected to conclude them and restart operations at the Talara Refinery in the first week of September.
These tasks do not affect the supply of fuels in the country, since the production and storage of fuels to be commercialized during the period of the works was scheduled with due anticipation.
