PETROPERÚ gives a workshop to mothers in the fight against anemia
Preventing anemia in children, pregnant women and lactating women was the objective of the workshop that PETROPERÚ, through the Baltazar y Nicolás Foundation, a non-profit organization, developed in Villa El Salvador (VES), seeking to promote good practices of care and nutrition to more than a thousand families in that district south of Lima.
In the program, which is being developed at the Brisas de Pachacamac Health Center, in the Metropolitan Park Zone, of VES, not only mothers participate, but also the fathers and older brothers of the children, who receive in each talk- nutritious food, seeking to strengthen the organism of the little ones.
In total, residents of more than 20 human settlements in said district benefit, who learned about the properties of foods rich in iron, especially of animal origin, such as “sangrecita” (similar to blood pudding), spleen, lung, liver and other viscera in general.
Likewise, in these demonstration sessions, information was provided about the diet that the pregnant woman should receive, highlighting that, from 14 weeks of pregnancy, and up to two months after delivery, the pregnant woman has to consume iron supplements that help meet your requirements.
The mothers appreciated this new contribution from PETROPERÚ, because thanks to it -they said- they will improve their knowledge on nutrition and food issues, all within the framework of the "Corporate Intervention Program for the Support of Pregnant Mothers and Families with Children up to 12 months of age through the Strengthening of Community Health Strategies where it is called "Balanced and Iron-Rich Food".
