PETROPERU facilitates aerial transfer of a pregnant woman in Bagua
- Rapid evacuation allowed to provide timely medical attention to the young mother.
As part of their social commitment to the populations of the Amazon, and following the call of the Bagua Health Network, PETROPERU personnel proceeded to evacuate by air a pregnant woman of the Awajun ethnic group, diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy and whose physical integrity, for the lack of an opportune transfer - terrestrial road - it implied great risk.
The trip was made aboard a helicopter that departed from Station No. 5 of the Nor Peruano Pipeline (ONP) to the native community Bajo Tuntus, in the district of Imaza, Bagua province. There he proceeded to attend Elvia Tupika Tsegkush, whose life was in danger.
After providing first aid, paramedical personnel proceeded to transfer the patient, always by air, to Station No. 7 of the ONP, located in the town of El Valor, in the province of Utcubamba, in Amazonas. From this point it was easier to transfer to the Hospital of Apoyo de Bagua, where he underwent surgery, with satisfactory results.
It should be noted that the community Bajo Tuntus, is located 5 hours walk from the nearest health post and four days from the Imacita river port, so, medical emergencies evacuation by air is vital.
In this way, PETROPERU intensifies its solidarity work within the framework of its Social Management policy and of the relationship actions with the populations surrounding the North Peruvian Pipeline.
