PETROPERU distributes 9,600 gallons of drinking water due to shortage in Ilo
As a consequence of the heavy rains and the flooding of the rivers of the high Andean area of the Moquegua region, the drinking water treatment plants that supply the province of Ilo have been damaged, leaving the entire population without water since Saturday February 9
In response to the emergency, PETROPERU representatives arranged immediate support with a tanker truck and, in coordination with Ilo's Sanitation Services Provider (EPS), distributed 9,600 gallons of potable water in various sectors of the Pampa Inalámbrica.
The beneficiaries were the residents of the Habitat III and IV sectors, who appreciated the rapid response of the state company and its help in supplying them with drinking water. Likewise, the Company provided the residents with hats to protect the sun while they lined up to receive water from the trucks.
It is worth mentioning that the Moquegua, Tacna and Arequipa regions have endured heavy rains, which has generated road closures, damage to the infrastructure for the collection and distribution of water, the rupture of drainage pipes and the cutting of electricity.
PETROPERU is building a new plant and supply terminal for the southern region of the country in Ilo. Within this framework -and as part of its Social Management Plan-, it develops a series of social responsibility activities in an articulated manner with local authorities; This includes support in these emergency cases facing the province of Ilo and the entire southern macro region of the country.
