PETROPERU detects oil outcrop at kilometer 568 of the ONP
PETROPERU informs the public of the following:
- Yesterday, 11/19/2020, a minor outcrop of crude oil was reported on land near Km 568, Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), jurisdiction of the Centro Poblado Cuica, Cutervo province, Cajamarca Region.
- As a first response action, PETROPERU immediately activated the Contingency Plan, sending personnel and equipment for the first cleaning and containment tasks. These actions are carried out considering the protocol foreseen in the face of the health emergency that is currently being faced.
- It is worth mentioning that the hydrocarbon transport activities through the North Peruvian Pipeline have been paralyzed since last September 28, due to the taking of Stations 5 and Morona.
- The causes of the event are under investigation. PETROPERU has proceeded to inform the inspection bodies.
