After completing the construction work, Petroperú delivered the new Punta Talara lighthouse to the Peruvian Navy, which is located within the facilities of the New Talara Refinery and is the highest on the Peruvian coast.

The inauguration and commissioning ceremony was presided over by the corporate manager of the Talara Refinery, Gaspar Díaz Tello, and the director of Hydrography and Navigation of the Peruvian Navy, Rear Admiral Carlos Guerrero Malpartida.

During the event, Diaz Tello reported that the new infrastructure of the lighthouse maintains its original height of 49 meters and has been built with the necessary characteristics to guarantee its uninterrupted optimal operational performance, strengthening navigation and safe fishing processes in the area.

In turn, Guerrero Malpartida stressed that the new infrastructure had been built by Petroperú, in coordination with the personnel of the Nautical Signaling Department of the Peruvian Navy.

Talara bay has had a lighthouse since 1974, which was removed and replaced by a temporary structure in 2018, to continue with the construction work of the New Talara Refinery.

During the visit to the Petroperú facilities, the representatives of the military institution highlighted the commitment of the State company to build this new and modern structure based on the same location and height of the old lighthouse, in order to continue providing a better service. light to all the navigators in the area, among which are the artisanal fishermen of the province of Talara and the vessels of the oil industry.
