Petroperú delivers supplies of water and food to communities

The provision of water and supplies acquired by Petroperú to assist communities affected by the environmental contingency produced in the area of kilometer 42 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) in a supportive and preventive manner, has been delivered to families registered by the community authorities.

This Thursday afternoon, the amount of 272 packs of food (oil, rice, sugar, noodles, cans of tuna) and 272 boxes of water of 20 liters each were completed, adding this batch of groceries to the boxes of water that already were in Cuninico (250 boxes of 20 liters each). Likewise, there are additional shipments that will arrive in the coming days.

For its part, the Loreto Regional Health Management will carry out this weekend water sampling on the banks of nine native communities, as well as the displacement of a medical brigade to carry out campaigns and deliver medicines during a tour of thirteen days for the communities.

Petroperú, with the support of companies with experience in controlling spills in bodies of water, continues to carry out the work of containment and recovery of crude oil that has flowed through the Cuninico and Marañón rivers.

As it is recalled, the recent oil leak at km 42+092, in the district of Urarinas, Loreto region, was the product of an intentional cut of 21 centimeters, generated by third parties, a fact that was reported to the competent authorities.

With this, there are already 11 events and 46 intentional cuts perpetrated against this infrastructure work that, for this reason, has been paralyzed for eight months.
