PETROPERÚ delivered equipment to Ilo technological institute

As part of its social responsibility policy, PETROPERU delivered today technical equipment to the Luis E. Valcarcel Higher Technological Institute of Ilo, which will contribute to the training of students.

The vice president of the Congress, Mario Fidel Mantilla, participated in the ceremony; the general manager of Education of the Regional Government, Renzo Quiroz; the general manager of PETROPERU, Esteban Bertarelli Bustamante; the director of the Institute, Jorge Luis Flores, as well as students and faculty. The event was held in the aforementioned study center, located at kilometer 2.5 of the South Pan-American Highway.

Among the equipment that was delivered, there are four pick-up trucks for practical workshops, machinery for welding and cutting, as well as a band saw for metals. With these materials and equipment students can put into practice what they have learned in a real environment.

In his speech Ing. Bertarelli said that "for PETROPERU it is very important to contribute with the development of this port. The delivery of vehicles will be of great help for the practical work of the students". Congressman Mantilla, meanwhile, said that "this delivery is a first effort to advance the students of the region," while appreciating the contribution of the Company to improving the quality of education in Ilo.

The Luis E. Valcarcel Higher Technological Institute has 24 years teaching various technical careers to young people of Ilo, such as computer and IT, industrial electronics, technical nursing, secretarial, automotive and construction mechanics, among others.

This activity is part of the commitments acquired by PETROPERU in the framework of the construction of the new Ilo Terminal. Other actions carried out are the recapeo of the Lino Urquieta Avenue, the roof of the sports slab of the Mercedes Cabello school, the purchase of video surveillance cameras, the delivery of books to local libraries and various cultural activities.

The new Ilo Terminal will serve the current and projected demand of fuels in the South zone of the country. It comprises an area of 16.4 hectares of land and approximately 17 hectares of water; including a marine terminal and submarine pipelines. It will have a capacity of 293 thousand barrels and is built on the La Buitrera hill, far from the urban area of Ilo.
