PETROPERÚ coordinates priorization of the support of the company to the Talara province
In accordance with what was announced during the meeting held on November 17 between the Mayor of Talara, Rosa Elvira Vega and the President of PETROPERU, Luis Eduardo García Rosell, today there was a meeting of the technical teams of the Provincial Municipality of Talara and of the state company, to present the Talara Social Plan with which PETROPERÚ reaffirms its commitment to the development and progress of this emblematic province of the national oil industry.
During the meeting, the Corporate Manager of Social Management and Communications, Beatriz Alva Hart, explained the support provided by PETROPERÚ to Talara and the Social Management Plan that they have been implementing for the benefit of the Talara locals. She also announced the work plan on environmental matters that accompanies the execution of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT).
For its part, the Provincial Municipality of Talara, through the Sub Manager of Public Services, Dante Talledo, presented the programs and projects of the provincial commune, which are focused on environmental management, public services, health, safety, tourism and economic development. He stated that although these should be implemented in the short time, they do not have sufficient economic resources, so they require the support of companies operating in the province.
At the end of the meeting, the participants signed an act in which they commit to continue working in the benefit of Talara. In this sense, the Provincial Municipality of Talara will send PETROPERU the matrix of requirements and its social plan, which will be evaluated by the state company in a working meeting with city officials, in mid-December.
PETROPERÚ has committed to carry out the negotiations with the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion to evaluate the possibility of implementing a collective employment system for the cleaning of the city, in response to the expansion of the emergency in the areas affected by El Niño Costero.
PROGRAMS TO BE IMPLEMENTED
During her presentation, Alva Hart summarized the initiatives programmed by PETROPERU for next year and that will, without a doubt, contribute to the development of Talara. The first is the Solid Waste Management of Talara, to be started this year, which consists of the support to the Municipality in the execution of the Comprehensive Plan of RRSS in coordination with the Development Program of Solid Waste Management Systems in Priority Zones of MINAM. PETROPERU will participate in the calibration of routes, the temporary storage system, awareness and dissemination of the RRSS plan, the Mi Barrio Limpio award program and the presence of environmental supervisors and volunteers.
Then, the touristic valorization of the city of Talara, consisting of the support for the participation of Cenfotur to carry out the identification of tourism potential of Talara and plans to revive this industry. It includes the identification and assessment of tourism potential, the training in topics related to tourism, the preparation of a tourism recovery plan and the strengthening of tourism management by the Municipality of Talara.
Also the training and formalization of fishermen from Talara, through the implementation of a pilot project to improve working conditions and opportunities for fishermen; which includes: registration, promoting formalization, training in improving fishing activity, training in business management, as well as generation of opportunities for the entrance of fishermen in the fishing value chain.
Alva Hart indicated that work will also be done on the institutional strengthening of the Municipality, contributing to the management of issues related to governability, governance and public management instruments, among others.
Similarly, she announced that the study of biodiversity has been considered, through the ringing program of the Peruvian Cortarrama in the dry forest of Talara, and the evaluation of projects through Works for Taxes, as well as other projects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the framework of its Annual CSR Plan.
PROJECTS IN EXECUTION
Regarding the contributions under way, Alva Hart recalled the financing of the Urban Development Plan (PDU) of the city of Talara and Territorial Conditioning Plan (PAT) of the province of Talara; with an investment of 401 thousand soles, as well as the integral improvement of Avenue G to begin in the coming days.
Likewise, the construction of the new premises of the Federico Villarreal school of Talara, which will be built on a 5,000-meter-long property owned by the Company, with an investment of S/ 11'305,888.14, as part of the commitments made by the Company.
