Petroperú controls oil leakage created in the pipeline of the North Peruvian Pipeline
After talking with the municipal authorities of Santa Rosa in the district of Manseriche, Datem del Marañón province (Loreto), Petroperú was able to enter the contingency zone caused by a drilling to the pipeline at kilometer 323+744 of Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) and contain the oil leak by placing a metal clamp to avoid a greater impact.
In addition, as part of the Contingency Plan, containment barriers were placed in the area and the entry of personnel from the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin), as well as the Public Ministry and National Police of Peru, among other authorities, is expected to verify the state of the pipeline and verify the facts after this sixth attack on the ONP so far this year.
Petroperú urges the population of Santa Rosa, through its communal authorities, to comply with the agreements assumed at the meeting held on May 31, in which they committed to maintain social peace in the area and respect the rights of Petroperú personnel and contractors, desisting from any measure of force against the facilities of the ONP, a strategic infrastructure considered a National Critical Asset (ACN).
In turn, Petroperú has ratified its commitment and willingness to work together with the district commune through institutional agreements, in order to progressively meet the requirements of the population with aquaculture activities and solidarity actions related to health issues.
This is the sixth attack on the ONP so far in 2023. The previous ones were recorded at kilometers 390+184, 399+861, 400+811, 358+835 and 392+483 of Section II of the ONP, which has been paralyzed since the beginning of June due to low crude inventories in Station 5.
Faced with these continuous illegal acts, Petroperú reiterates the immediate intervention of the authorities and the application of sanctions against those responsible for the attacks on the ACN.
