PETROPERU controlled the overflow of crude in Saramuro

PETROPERU controlled the overflow of crude in Saramuro

On Saturday, June 9, in the afternoon there was an overflow of approximately 10 gallons of crude from a barge, operated by a contractor, which was loading this material at Station 1, Saramuro, Loreto.

The overflow was caused because personnel of the contractor company did not properly operate the valves in their barge.

As soon as the event occurred, the Contingency Plan was activated with the immediate laying of containment barriers to confine the spots and iridescences within the aquatic area of the facility.

For the subsequent cleaning, skimmers and oleophilic cloths were used, with which the crude oil was collected from the surface. The necessary equipment to deal with these contingencies were available at the time, which allowed recovering the oil and controlling the situation immediately.

PETROPERU has notified the monitoring and supervising entities about this event.
