Petroperú controlled crude oil leak in the Pastaza River

Petroperú, with the assistance of specialized companies, controlled the hydrocarbon leak at kilometer 11 of the Northern Branch of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), in the Pastaza River area, Andoas district of the Loreto region.

The immediate activation of the Contingency Plan to begin the first response work, such as closing valves, prevented the oil leak from continuing. Likewise, containment barriers were installed to prevent the oil from expanding.

The work will continue today with the cleaning of the area, while coordination is carried out with the communal and local authorities for the normal development of the repair and cleaning work.

In accordance with the regulations, Petroperú informed the Environmental Assessment and Oversight Agency (OEFA) and the Energy and Mining Investment Supervisory Agency (Osinergmin) about the event. Likewise, within the framework of current legal provisions, the execution of the respective water quality analyses is being coordinated with the National Water Authority (ANA) and the National Rural Sanitation Program (PNSR).

Petroperú will continue to report on the progress of the work and reiterates its commitment to act immediately in the event of these events, within the legal framework and in close coordination with the neighboring communities, to safeguard their integrity and environment.
