PETROPERU contributes to improve quality of education in Villa El Salvador

In order to progressively improve the learning of schoolchildren in the educational institutions of Villa El Salvador (VES), PETROPERU closed the activities of the Educational Improvement Program "Quality Schools", which is executed in strategic alliance with the University Peruvian Cayetano Heredia and the Local Educational Management Unit (UGEL 01).

The program, which lasts three years, has successfully completed its first year of intervention in twelve primary education institutions of VES, where 162 teachers and twelve directors have been trained in the areas of communication and mathematics, benefiting the date to 4,382 students.

The closing ceremony of the first year of the program and delivery of certificates to the participating teachers was attended by the assistant manager of the Conchán Refinery, Janet Zehnder; the deputy manager of Social Development of PETROPERU, Tomás Flores; and the director of the Educational Improvement Program "Quality Schools", Raquel Villaseca. Likewise, representatives of UGEL 01, directors and teachers of the participating schools, students and parents participated.

During the first year of execution, the pedagogical capacities of the teachers to improve teaching and learning have been developed, as well as the management skills of the directors through training workshops and educational promotion activities that articulate the school, the community and the business.

In addition, a permanent evaluation of the entire process has been carried out, which included accompanying visits and classroom counseling, inter-learning groups, pedagogical fairs for integration with the community, reading marathon and workshops with parents, mainly.

This program is framed in the PETROPERU Social Management Plan, through which the Company shows its permanent commitment to the improvement of education and the quality of life for the benefit of the populations near its facilities.
