PETROPERU continues to provide support to the health sector for the benefit of communities neighboring the ONP
As part of its commitment to the most vulnerable populations in its areas of influence, PETROPERU has been contributing to the timely supply of health centers in the Awajún communities, neighboring Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), by air transportation of medicines, materials and medical equipment.
Between March and June, PETROPERU transported, by helicopter, six tons of medical material sent by the Ministry of Health, to be distributed in the establishments of the Wayampiak, Alto Tuntus, Chija and Shimpuents communities, which belong to the district Imaza, Bagua province of the Amazon region.
Thanks to this important support from the state-owned company, the Bagua Health Network has been able to deliver medical supplies to these communities, which are located between two to four days walking, from the Imacita port, which implies that their scarce staff has than transporting the packages on foot, given the lack of access for vehicles or fluvial means.
The logistical support that is being carried out from the ONP Pumping Station No. 6 to the Awajún communities that are vulnerable to constant outbreaks and epidemics, will be maintained over the next few months as coordinated with the health authorities, informed the Social Management Department of PETROPERU.
