PETROPERU clarifies that it meets its commitments in the PMRT
PETROPERU reported today before the Congressional Control Commission - chaired by the congressman Luis Lopez Vilela- that it strictly fulfills the commitments established in the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT) in the matter of contracting local labor; likewise, it reiterated that it fulfills all its contractual commitments.
This was stated by Esteban Bertarelli Bustamante, General Manager of the Company, before said Commission. The official was accompanied by Jorge Alméstar Mauricio, Manager of the PMRT and Beatriz Alva Hart, Manager of Social Management and Communications.
Bertarelli explained that the project has always met and even exceeded the 70% share of local labor for unskilled jobs established in the EIA, reaching 84% at present. On the other hand, "we had peaks of 2,200 workers from Talara, which is not little," said the senior official.
In addition, and as a proof of the transparency with which the Company acts, from January 2016 to March of this year, lists of contracted personnel with their respective DNI have been published in local newspapers of mass circulation. Also, as of August of this year a fanpage has been created on Facebook - called OIPC Informa - for transmitting in real time the meetings of the Local Committee, an entity in charge of preselecting the staff and which is composed of representatives of the main stakeholders of the PMRT, of which PETROPERU is one more member.
For his part, Jorge Alméstar said that PETROPERU has no outstanding debts with Tecnicas Reunidas (TR), the main contractor of the project and warned that "the contractors must fulfill their obligations and our Company is the one that ensures that this is so."
As evidence of all the aforementioned, PETROPERU delivered abundant supporting documentation to the Commission.
