PETROPERU clarifies situation of the contingency caused by tremor in km 95 of the North Peruvian Pipeline

In relation to the Emergency Situation Report No. 091-2019-COER.GORELORETO and the Preliminary Report No. 644-14/06/2019/COEN-INDECI/23:15ORAS, both dated 14.06.2019, by which COER-REGION LORETO and the COEN INDECI refer to an affectation of 334 people of the community of Puerto Auxilio, product of the contingency at Km. 95 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), PETROPERU states:

  1. The information provided in these documents does not fit the truth, because the photographs shown in the reports do not correspond to the work that is being done in the contingency produced in Km. 95 of the ONP.
  2. Likewise, the community of Puerto Auxilio, included as affected in the documents in reference, is located approximately 10 kilometers from the point where it detected shimmers of crude oil and upstream of the Marañón River, so it is not related to the event that occurred in the Km. 95
  3. As PETROPERU reported, having knowledge of the presence of a shimmer in Km. 95, a contingency caused by the earthquake registered in the district of Lagunas on May 26, immediately activated its Contingency Plan.
  4. Similarly, this event has been supervised by the OEFA and OSINERGMIN, competent bodies that have verified the work and the cleanliness of the area.
  5. Currently, we are performing maintenance work for the repair of the pipeline.
  6. We are requesting the presence of the Environmental Prosecutor and the National Police of Peru to carry out a verification of the facts.
