Petroperú clarifies information on the Flexicoking Unit at the Talara Refinery.

Regarding the information about the Talara Refinery, recently published in the Gestión newspaper on March 17, 2025, the following is stated:
- The New Talara Refinery has been operating normally through its various processing plants and auxiliary units, guaranteeing the supply of fuel to the entire country.
- Regarding the Flexicoking Unit (FCK), it is in the startup process after being on standby (pause) since January 18 due to a blockage in its loading line caused by external problems related to failures in various supplies (water, steam, and electricity). This affected the entire refinery, leaving it in squat mode (internal recirculation) from that date until March 1, when startup began.
- The installation of the bypass in the loading line to the reactor's Srubber, mentioned in the Gestión newspaper on March 17, 2025, corresponds to work carried out months ago, for which information was shared with the licensor Exxon Mobil. In this regard, Exxon Mobil announced new recommendations for its use, such as the flexibility study, which has been fully addressed in February and March 2025.
- The incident recorded on Saturday, March 15, occurred in the heater during the conditioning stage of the FCK, prior to the entry of cargo, an operation that is in no way related to the so-called bypass.
- Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to maximizing the operation of the FCK, maintaining coordination with specialists from the licensor Exxon Mobil, as well as with the specialists responsible for the unit's initial startup, which was successfully achieved, according to the aforementioned licensor.
- This will allow the refinery to take advantage of the operational advantage offered by the New Talara Refinery, which can process both light and heavy crude. As has been communicated several times, the choice of crude responds strictly to profitability criteria, allowing the refinery to adjust to market fluctuations and optimize its revenues.
