PETROPERU celebrates the cancelation of the measure of force by the Chapis community and annexes
PETROPERU addresses public opinion to report the following:
- On August 6, the authorities of Chapis, in Loreto, through Letter No. 52-2018-CNCPH-PP-II, informed PETROPERU of the cancelation of the measure of force initiated a day earlier, which suspended the work of remediation at Km 221 of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN) where a contingency occurred on November 8.
- The document bears the signatures of Mr. Isaac Yampis, Central Apu of the community of Chapis and of the Apus Vicente Tangoa Pizango, of the community of the El Banco hamlet; Never Arias, from the Capernaum community; Alberto Macedo, from the Nueva Alegría community; Pisco Vargas, from the Ajachim-Manseriche community; Never Comisario, from the Wee-Manseriche community; as well as Eliseo Ramírez, president of the Organization of Indigenous Peoples of the Manseriche Sector (ORPISEM) and Ismael Pérez, technician of the Intercultural Health Unit of the Datem del Marañón Health Network.
- The document allows the company KANAY SAC, contracted by PETROPERU, to restart the remediation work in the area and declares that the work between the community and the company will be carried out in harmony.
- PETROPERU reaffirms its desire to complete the remediation in the area in the shortest possible time to limit risks to health and the environment, as well as to restore the environment to its normal operating conditions.
