PETROPERU carries out protection work in the north peruvian pipeline against rainfalls in the Amazon region
Maintenance Personnel of the Operations Submanagement of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) develops cleaning and maintenance works of drainages, in addition to placing pipes in the ditches adjacent to the pipeline to facilitate the runoff of the waters before the risk of damages that could cause the huaycos in the Amazon region. Likewise, the material dragged by the rains - such as mud, rocks, brush, etc. - that could cause the pipeline fracture is removed.
These works are carried out in Kms 496, 483, 484 and 326 of the ONP, because they are the areas of greatest risk and where the rains have produced more aggressive landslides.
As the rains have also affected the roads where the ONP pipeline is moving in parallel in that region of the country, the actions taken by PETROPERU are also aimed at improving access damaged by rainfall. This is to facilitate the transfer of heavy equipment, such as excavators, among others, for larger jobs.
As every year, since the beginning of the rainy season in the areas where the ONP is located, the state oil company has been taking preventive measures against landslides, especially in the Amazon region, which is done in order to protect the integrity of the pipeline.
This way, PETROPERU collaborates with the improvement of the accesses to the communication routes close to the ONP and, at the same time, maintains the integrity of this crude transportation infrastructure during these seasonal events.
