Petroperú carries out cleaning work in the Pastaza River area

Petroperú continues to carry out clean-up work in the areas affected by the hydrocarbon outcrop at kilometers 11 and 12 of the Northern Branch of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), in the Pastaza River area, Andoas district, Datem del Marañón province, Loreto region.

These tasks are carried out with the support of local labor, following the agreements reached through ongoing dialogue with authorities and community leaders of Andoas. It is estimated that the clean-up will be completed by the end of October.

At the same time, Petroperú has requested the execution of quality analyses of water for human consumption and the operation of the water treatment plants, in compliance with current regulations. The analysis will be carried out by the Regional Health Management of Loreto and the National Rural Sanitation Program (PNSR).

Petroperú has also purchased food and water packages to assist the population and has coordinated with the Regional Government of Loreto and the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) to transport food from Iquitos to Andoas, which will be distributed by local authorities.

Outcrop control

Since the emergency was detected on October 3, Petroperú activated its Contingency Plan, closing the mechanical valves and deploying specialized equipment and materials to control the leak.

As part of these actions, control points with containment barriers have been installed along the Pastaza River, which has prevented the expansion of the crude oil.

The oversight authorities, such as the Environmental Assessment and Oversight Agency (OEFA), the Energy and Mining Investment Supervisory Agency (Osinergmin), and the General Directorate of Captaincies and Coast Guard (DICAPI), have verified the actions implemented by Petroperú to control the incident.

Petroperú reiterates its commitment to environmental protection and the well-being of local communities, carrying out the actions necessary to mitigate the impact generated by this contingency, the causes of which are the subject of investigation.
