PETROPERU calls to institutions to report on the progress of the construction of the Ilo Terminal
To continue with the fulfillment of the commitments made to the community of Ilo, PETROPERU called various public and private associations of the city to share the progress in the construction of the New Terminal Ilo, as well as the hiring of local labor.
Sergio Vizcarra, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Ilo, stressed the importance of the new terminal and noted that "Ilo has demonstrated that it can survive without mining, and the construction of new projects, such as the one by PETROPERU, prove it," he said.
He added that we must act strategically, making the population aware that Ilo can become an energy hub not only for the city but for the south of the country. "This region needs the investment of large companies and PETROPERU is a great ally for the area," he said.
Vizcarra expressed his interest in supporting the communication of the project's progress, since this will generate more benefits for the people of the region. "The worker must understand the scope of the work and that it also benefits other sectors such as restaurants, transportation, accommodation, that is, all our partners," he said; adding the request to ensure that more than 50 percent of unskilled workers are from the place.
For Geraldine Huertas, head of the Regional Labor Directorate of Ilo of the Ministry of Labor, it is important that the Work Committee is created, so that the works of the new plant continue without any problems.
