Petroperú calls on the San José de Saramuro farming community to abandon forceful measures
Communal authorities and residents of the San José de Saramuro farming community, in the Urarinas district, Loreto province and region, keep the facilities of Station 1 of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline (ONP) blocked. The measure of force, which began on September 20, forced the evacuation of the company's personnel, as well as contractors, preventing the normal development of operational activities.
With these forceful measures, the leaders and residents demand that the local government authorities of the Urarinas district define the location and construction of the health center in the community area, a claim that is not linked to Petroperú's own operations.
Petroperú has shown total willingness to maintain dialogue and provide alternatives so that the community authorities can carry out their negotiations with the various levels of the Executive that have powers in the matter, in addition to continuing to comply with their commitments to provide water for consumption human and the supply of electrical energy to the population; However, it is important to note that, as Station 1 is inoperative, it is likely that the provision of drinking water and electricity will be affected until its operations resume.
However, despite the efforts, the leaders and residents of San José de Saramuro have decided to radicalize their measure as of Monday, October 2, announcing the blockade of the passage of boats through the Marañón River.
Petroperú calls on the leaders and residents of the San José Saramuro farming community to abandon forceful measures in favor of honest and transparent dialogue with the authorities on issues of interest to citizens, allowing in turn the development of the activities of the company for the benefit of the country.
