In application of its Contingency Plan, PETROPERU has carried out containment work and started recovering the oil spilled in an incident that occurred at Km 323 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) near the Santa Rosa community, Manseriche district, Datem del Marañón province, Loreto, last January 1st.

Likewise, the actions of preventive social support to communities close to the contingency are making progress. For this purpose, non-perishable food and water for human consumption have been distributed to 385 families, made up of a total of 1,376 people from five (5) communities near the incident: Santa Rosa, Belén, Sinchi Roca, Palestina and Pijuayal. This support will be provided for as long as is determined in the evaluation of the quality of water for human consumption, for which PETROPERU has called in the assistance of the Regional Health Office of Loreto.

Additionally, in a preventive manner, the Company will conduct a medical campaign in these communities, carried out by a team of health professionals who are already on their way to the area and carry out their activities from Monday, January 14 to 24. Assistance will be provided in general medicine, cases of anemia and dental services, as well as delivery of medicines and health talks. In all cases, these services will be provided free of charge, including medicines; and in coordination with local authorities.

The cause of this incident is under investigation, and the amount of oil spilled cannot yet be determined. At the same time, the repair work on the pipeline and the preparation of remediation actions in the area, in constant communication with the communal authorities, are advancing rapidly.

PETROPERU has been making its best efforts to repair the pipeline in the shortest possible time and restore the environment to its normal operating conditions.
