Petroperú and the Municipality of Lobitos set up a dialogue table

Petroperú and the Lobitos District Municipality set up a dialogue table today with the participation of local authorities, representatives of fishermen's unions and the population of the area to address the situation generated by the contingency at Las Capullanas beach and to carry out actions for the benefit of all those involved.

Engineer Oscar Vera Gargurevich, general manager of Petroperú, highlighted the company's immediate reaction to the emergency from the first day, whose actions managed to contain and prevent the hydrocarbon leak from spreading. He also specified that all contaminated material has been collected and that the area will continue to be monitored on a permanent basis.

In addition, he highlighted the company's commitment to remediate the site as soon as possible, a task that has been developed with the support of companies specialized in cleaning and environmental recovery. These actions seek to guarantee the comprehensive recovery of the environment, leaving the beach completely clean and suitable for fishing and other economic activities.

Engineer Vera highlighted the importance of Lobitos in the economy of the northern region, adding that the company will compensate the community accordingly.

“Petroperú is committed to Lobitos, and therefore the compensation plan will be implemented in accordance with the law as soon as possible, allowing activities to resume as soon as possible,” he said.

The negotiating committee made up of officials from Petroperú, from the municipality of Lobitos, fishermen's associations and representatives of civil society will continue to work at the table to reach agreements and comply with the agreed commitments.
