PETROPERU and the community of Chapis agree to start environmental remediation

Today and after two days of dialogue and understanding, representatives of PETROPERU, of the community of Chapis and its annexes, and of the company Kanay Seché Group, signed an agreement to begin the remediation and cleaning work in the km 221.5, as well as the maintenance and patrolling works of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN). The community of Chapis is located in the district of Manseriche, Datem del Marañón province, Loreto; where an outcrop of oil was recorded on November 7.

During the dialogue with the community and its leaders, PETROPERU agreed that the remediation of the area will begin in the shortest possible time, thus ensuring the protection of the environment, care and health of the people.

The population joined this concern and heard the proposal of the Kanay Company, who will be responsible for carrying out the remediation of the area. PETROPERU stated that with the dialogue and the joint effort of the community and the company it has been possible to achieve important milestones that benefit the population, stressing that the growth of the community is through sustainable development, and not with the remediation which is a short-term activity.

PETROPERU makes every effort to strengthen the dialogue and the bonds of trust to develop a lasting friendship with the communities adjacent to the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP). In this sense, it renews its commitment to the progress of the populations of the Amazon.
