PETROPERÚ and PCM support dialogue table in native community of Loreto
There are great expectations in the community of Nueva Alianza, Urarinas District, Loreto, were today Wednesday, a Dialogue Table will be installed, to try to answer the demands of its leaders, after the crude leaks caused by actions of third parties, as has been verified by the national police and the Specialized Prosecutor in Environmental Matters of Bagua, in the 54 and 55 Km of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP). Personnel from the Environmental Evaluation and Auditing Organism – OEFA was also present in the area.
To that end, a delegation of the National Dialogue and Sustainability Office (ONDS) of thhe PCM, as well as PETROPERU, has already traveled to the area, continuing with the conversation process so that said community will allow our company to begin the recovery, cleaning and remediation works, under the supervision of the Lamor specialized company, and with the local labor (in coordination with the Apu and the local authorities).
It’s important to remember that the leak has been completely controlled, and it was possible to avoid its movement in the flotation canal. As is known, the ONP flotation canal is an artificial facility built to house the pipeline, and works as a barrier to contain the crude in case of leaks. Additionally, it is equipped with security plugs that prevent the exit of the crude to other bodies of water.
However, given the possibility that it may rain the area, it is pressing to begin the repair and cleanup work, and thus avoid the risk that the affected area may grow and the hydrocarbon damages waterways.
PETROPERÚ reinstates its commitment with the protection of the environment and works arduously to restore the environment to its natural conditions in the shortest time possible.
