PETROPERÚ and Enel X inaugurate the country's first fast-charging electric station

PETROPERÚ and Enel X inaugurated this morning the first fast-charging electric station in the country, at a service station in the state-owned company network, which is located at kilometer 25.62 of the Panamericana Sur highway, in Lurín, Lima.

This initiative is carried out as part of the Framework Cooperation Agreement between both companies that encourage electric mobility in Peru, promoting the economic and environmental advantages generated by the use of electric vehicles.

The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo Terrones; the Chairman of the Board of PETROPERÚ, Mario Contreras Ibárcena; the head of the Environment portfolio, Rubén Ramírez Mateo and the Country Manager of Enel X, Marco Fragale, who agreed to highlight the benefits that this new alternative energy system will bring to the country.

For the head of state, this start-up of the modern electric station represents the government's effort in its fight to face the climate crisis. "We need to produce clean and renewable energy and this alternative energy, electromobility, seeks to promote science and technology in energy matters", said the president, celebrating this alliance between PETROPERÚ and Enel X.

In this sense, he highlighted the progress in the construction of the New Talara Refinery, which will begin its start-up this year with the production of fuels with low sulfur content, thus contributing to the preservation of the country's air quality. He indicated that, as part of its strengthening, the state company is assuming the operation of the oil blocks that will guarantee the loading of the new and modern PETROPERÚ refining complex, in the north of the country.

The implementation of electric stations promotes zero pollution, by providing energy for vehicles that generate zero CO2 emissions to the environment, thus improving the city's air quality and the quality of life of its citizens. In the future, the network of electric stations could be complemented with the supply of clean energy from renewable sources. In the same way, the implementation of electric stations allows the generation of investment and jobs for an industry that is going to grow exponentially in the next 30 to 40 years.

The electric station, installed in one of the PETROPERÚ network service stations, is a 60kW DC Juicepump Duo, with the capacity to recharge two electric vehicles at the same time. With this charger, an electric vehicle (car or SUV) would have a full charge in approximately 40 minutes.
