PETROPERU and Chapis community reach agreements that will allow to resume remediation works at km 221 del ORN
Leaders of the community Chapis and Anexos, of Loreto, met this morning with officials of PETROPERU and managed to reach important agreements that will allow the lifting of the measure of force at km 221 + 046 of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN), where a contingency on November 8.
The agreement, achieved after intense days of understanding and commitment, allows PETROPERU to immediately restart the remediation work in the area, which will be carried out until the initial environmental conditions are restored. The signed document emphasizes joint work for the benefit of the community.
"The commitment of the community is a fact," said one of the leaders, showing their satisfaction for the agreements made, for the benefit of their population. In turn, the General Manager of PETROPERU, Alfredo Coronel Escobar, ratified the oil company's commitment to these communities and, moreover, expressed its full and complete support to both the leaders and their population. "You can be a model community and in PETROPERU you will find all the support and support to make this happen," said the official.
It should be noted that the act incorporates commitments such as the construction of a communal room for the Chapis CCNN, the training for environmental monitors and the financing of a project to rescue cultural identity in handicrafts for this community, among others. Likewise, in December the Chapis CCNN will join the Program for the Dismantling and Early Warning of the North Peruvian Pipeline.
PETROPERU recognizes the decision adopted by the leaders of this community, when they deposed their measure of strength, and reaffirms their desire to complete remediation in the area in the shortest possible time to limit risks to health and the environment, as well as compliance with your commitments.
