Petroperú activates its contingency plan in the face of a possible new attack on the oil pipeline

Petroperú informs the public of the following:
- Today, Saturday, February 8, the presence of crude oil was detected at kilometer 376 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), near the Numpatkain community, in the Santa María de Nieva district, Condorcanqui province, Amazonas region.
- The contingency plan was immediately activated, mobilizing personnel and equipment necessary to carry out first response work, such as the installation of containment barriers and the transfer of a bolted clamp to stop the leak.
- During the on-site inspection, ground movement (excavation) was observed in an area previously patrolled by security and maintenance personnel, which suggests that this is a new third-party attack, like the other 11 recorded between January 2023 and March 2024 on Section II of the ONP, which - as previously reported - has been inactive since July 12, 2024, due to low crude oil inventories at Station 5.
- The company has reported this event to the supervisory entities and hopes that in the next few hours the authorities will carry out the necessary verifications on site.
- Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to protecting the environment and the safety of neighboring communities. In this context, it will ensure that it provides updated information on the progress of the work being carried out as well as the investigations related to this event.
