Petroperú activates contingency plan in the event of oil spill
This morning, Petroperú learned of an oil spill at kilometer 11 of the Northern Branch of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), in the Pastaza area, in the Loreto region.
In response to this event, the company immediately activated its Contingency Plan, mobilizing specialized personnel with the necessary equipment to deal with the situation. In addition, the valves in the affected area were closed, with the aim of minimizing the impact and containing the spill.
In parallel, Petroperú has informed the supervisory bodies and local municipal authorities to coordinate the pertinent actions, in order to ensure that the containment, repair and cleaning work is carried out appropriately. As a reminder, the North Branch of the ONP has been on a scheduled shutdown since February 21, 2020.
The state oil company will continue to report in a timely manner on the progress of the work and reiterates its commitment to act immediately in the event of such events, in close coordination with neighboring communities.
