As part of the Communication and Citizen Participation Program of the Community Relations Plan of the Environmental Impact Study of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), a group of senior officers from the Peruvian Navy visited the facilities of the new Talara Refinery to know closely the magnitude, progress and benefits of this work.

During this visit, the officers were informed that the new refinery will be able to process 95 thousand barrels per day and includes the installation of 16 new units of state-of-the-art processes, as well as five auxiliary service units and general facilities, in accordance with the requirements of the international energy market. In the same way, on the Workplace Health and Safety actions implemented; investment and Social Management actions are being developed.

The participants were able to receive answers to their queries regarding the social, economic and environmental benefits that this new refinery will bring to the country, which already has an integral advance of 75%.

After verifying the progress of this work, they agreed on the importance of completing its execution in benefit of the country's energy security and air quality and public health because when the new refinery is operational, it will be able to produce fuels that comply with the Euro 6 standard, that is, with a low sulfur content.
