North Peruvian Pipeline completed 42 years of operation
The North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) completed 42 years carrying out the transport of crude oil from the oil fields located in the Amazon to the Pacific coast, in the Bayóvar Terminal, located in the province of Sechura, Piura Region.
For this reason, various activities were offered to PETROPERU's stakeholders. The first is the exhibition "FÓSIL, a vision of Peru 200 million years ago", which is open to the Piura public in the Grau House Museum, until June 28. Admission is free.
Likewise, a Flash Lightning Intercommunal Championship was organized, where school children from neighboring communities participated in Station 5 of the ONP, located in Saramirisa, Loreto region.
The program of activities culminated on Sunday with the lifting of the National Pavilion, in charge of the Sub-Director of Operations Pipeline, Eng. Dino Valdiviezo, in the Main Square of Piura, after which, the workers participated in the parade that took place in front of the Municipal Palace.
The ONP began operations on May 24, 1977 and is considered the largest engineering work in the country, being a pipeline of 1,106 km, of which 854 kilometers correspond to the main pipeline and 252 kilometers to the northern branch (ORN); which crosses five departments of Peru (Loreto, Amazonas, Cajamarca, Lambayeque and Piura) located on the coast, mountains and jungle.
The transportation of crude oil by the ONP makes it possible to value the oil of the Peruvian jungle, which in turn makes the generation of the oil canon viable, for the benefit of the local and regional governments from which this natural resource is extracted. It is currently in the process of modernization and technological updating in order to continue generating benefits for the country.
