New Talara Refinery already processes more than 90 thousand barrels of oil per day
The New Talara Refinery (NRT) has been processing more than 90 thousand barrels of oil per day, thus consolidating itself as a strategic pillar for the country's energy supply.
This was confirmed today by the president of Petroperú, Alejandro Narváez Liceras, after concluding a decentralized board meeting of the company held at the industrial complex.
The NRT is in the integrated operational optimization stage, with all its units producing fuels in specification, such as gasoline, diesel, LPG and Turbo A-1, to meet the demand of the national market.
During the visit, the officials toured the Control Room and the various processing units that are in their optimization stage, including the Flexicoking Unit, an innovative technology present in only eight refineries worldwide and which allows the plant to be efficient.
Narváez Liceras highlighted the work now being carried out by the company's new management, which will focus on optimizing NRT costs, as a strategic operation of Petroperú, with profitability, efficiency and fulfilling its role of supplying high-quality fuel at competitive prices to the country.
In this regard, he ratified his commitment to the recovery of the state oil company. This management will work to improve operational processes and optimize the capacities of all units, consolidating Petroperú as an integrated and competitive company in the national market. "Our market share will increase progressively, reaching 38% by 2025," he said.
Export of electric energy
Talara Operations Manager, Arturo Rodríguez Paredes, reported that, since November 2024, NRT began exporting electric energy to the National Interconnected Electric System (COES). This achievement positions NRT among the 50 most efficient facilities in the system.
In addition, he highlighted that NRT has recently implemented the Process Safety Management System (PSM), becoming one of the first companies in the country to adopt this international standard, which reinforces its commitment to safety and operational excellence.
