Neighbors receive safety talks about the Petroperú pipeline

Petroperú has been providing ongoing safety talks to residents of communities near the pipeline that transports fuels underground from the Iquitos Refinery to the state oil company's Sales Plant in that Amazonian city.

These meetings - in which professionals from the state oil company's Operations and Social Management area participate - make it possible to identify the dangers and risks related to the pipeline's right of way, but also to recognize what actions should be taken in the event of evidence of potential damage to the road.

Recently, information sessions were held with the communities of Independencia and El Milagro, allowing these meetings to strengthen surveillance of the pipeline, which is unique in the country and is made up of two pipelines of 4 and 6 inches in diameter, respectively. It should be noted that gasoline, diesel, turbo and residual are transported through this 14-kilometer infrastructure from the Iquitos Refinery to the Iquitos Sales Plant. Nearby communities receive information that allows them to recognize possible dangers – such as landslides, sabotage, weather damage, among others – in order to report them.

For several years, Petroperú professionals have shared information and recommendations on the dangers, risks, and preventive actions to be taken in the face of situations that could affect the good condition of the pipeline and the safety of the surrounding populations.
