Neighborhood councils are given results of environmental monitoring in Talara

The members of the Community Socio-environmental Monitoring Committee (CCMSA) brought together the members of the Talara Neighborhood Councils to publicize the results of the environmental monitoring carried out as part of the provisions of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT).

In the informative meetings, held in the Office of Information and Citizen Participation (OIPC), as well as in the communal facilities of the North Cone, Southern Cone and Satellite City, they were provided with information about the monitors made in the last six months, which they showed values below the parameters established in the Environmental Quality Standards (ECA).

According to the results of the hydrobiological monitoring carried out in Talara Bay, phytoplankton, zooplacton and benthos are in optimal conditions. Similarly, biological monitoring, said that the quantities of species in the area, among which is the red-headed vulture, sea lions and sea earwigs, are in the same amounts as in the monitoring of the first quarter.

According to the PMRT EIA, these monitoring is carried out permanently. The air quality and hydrobiological monitoring are carried out quarterly; the environmental noise monitoring is done every two weeks and is done day and night; while water quality monitoring and biological monitoring are met monthly.

It is important to note that the members of the CCMSA have been trained to understand the indicators of the evaluation of environmental components, which will allow them to correctly interpret the results of the actions of each monitoring.
