- Awards will be presented at a special ceremony on Monday, November 27, at the National Grand Theater.
The Ministry of Culture and PETROPERÚ announced the names of the winners of the National Culture Award (PNC), considered the most important award in the country, as it recognizes the management and cultural development of people and institutions in favor of society.
On this occasion, the jury recognized the outstanding singer, composer and music researcher Susana Baca de la Colina with the PNC 2017 in the category of Trajectory for its originality and style, which she has shown throughout her long career. The jury which granted the PNC was formed by Dr. Salomon Lerner Febres; the historian Luis Repetto Malaga; the anthropologist Wilton Martinez Carlevarino; the actress and producer Alicia Morales Dasso and Ana Correa Benites, professor in artistic education at the National Superior School of Dramatic Art.
At the same time, maestro Oscar Naters Burger won the award in the Creativity category, because -through three decades of tireless tenacity- he has managed to bring his ingenuity, insight and inspiration into dance, acting and performance, video and lighting, among other scenic disciplines, to new levels.
The jury that chose Naters was formed by the ex-director general of the National Autonomous School of Fine Arts, Luis Cortes Carcelen; Diana Guerra Chirinos, Academic Coordinator in Tourism Administration at the San Ignacio de Loyola University; anthropologist María Ulfe Young and film critics Alberto Servat Valenzuela and Isaac León Frias.
Likewise, the prize was awarded in the category of Good Institutional Practices to the Museum of Art of Lima - MALI, recognizing this non-profit organization, for its decades-long work in favor of the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions, of the defense and conservation of the nation's cultural heritage and intercultural dialogue.
The jury was made by Dr. Beatriz Merino Lucero; the archaeologist Pedro Alayza Tijero; Carolina Trivelli Ávila, principal investigator of the Institute of Peruvian Studies; Sigifredo Burneo Sánchez, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Education of the National University of Piura and Raúl Romero Cevallos, sociologist for the PUCP.
The award, which PETROPERÚ sponsors for the sixth consecutive year and reaffirms - once again - its commitment to culture, will be presented at a special ceremony on Monday, November 27, at the facilities of the National Grand Theater.
