Municipal council extends the construction license of the new Ilo Terminal until 2020
The Provincial Municipality of Ilo approved the extension of the construction and contract license of the new Ilo Terminal until May 14, 2020, in a session held today in the council hall of the commune. The work is being built in the Lomas La Buitrera industrial zone, registering a physical advance of 40%. Its construction will meet the current and projected demand for liquid fuels destined for the regions of the southern macro-region of the country and part of the Bolivian market.
Likewise, it was agreed that the councilors should be part of the Dialogue Table and that a regulation be worked on that contributes to the proper development of the meetings between the Company, institutions and civil society, thus strengthening the participatory space.
For his part, Tomás Flores Noriega, Assistant Manager of Social Development of PETROPERU, explained that "this extension has been requested due to the administrative inconveniences that were faced with state institutions when they were processing the corresponding permits, which brought as a consequence the delay of the start of the work and that is known to the local authorities."
In recent months, PETROPERU has held working meetings and guided visits to the work to share and exchange information with the local and regional authorities on the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the project. In addition, Flores said that the Company has been fulfilling the commitments assumed with the city in benefit of the progress of Ilo and the Moquegua region.
