Ministry of Culture and PETROPERU announce the call for the National Culture Award 2018
The Minister of Culture, Patricia Balbuena, and the Chairman of the Board of Petroperu, James Atkins, announced this morning the National Culture Award - PNC 2018, the highest award given by the Peruvian State to national people and organizations that contribute to the construction of identity, promotion of creativity and respect for the country's cultural diversity.
The personalities that since 2012 have been recognized with this award are a sample of its relevance, said the head of the sector. Gustavo Gutiérrez, Rodolfo Hinostroza, Francisco Lombardi, Julio Cotler, Carlos Germán Belli, Christian Bendayán, Edgardo Rivera Martínez, Lucho Quenquezana, Gonzalo Portocarrero and Susana Baca are some of those recognized with the PNC for their contribution to the country in different branches.
"This is the size of the National Culture Award. Therefore, this year after receiving the proposals of candidates, we can honor the people and institutions that make history in our country, "said Minister Balbuena.
With the PNC, institutions such as the Asociacion Arena y Esteras de Villa El Salvador, La Tarumba, Reniec and the Wiese Foundation have also been recognized.
The president of PETROPERU, James Atkins, highlighted the value of this award, which since 2012 recognizes outstanding personalities or institutions of the Peruvian cultural sphere. "This year, once again, we reaffirm our commitment to the culture of our country," he said.
We are convinced, he added, that culture is the way to achieve the development of our society. "This is why this recognition is really important for our institution, it is a tangible sample of PETROPERU's contribution to the construction of a more inclusive, equitable and just society," he said.
According to Law No. 29565, the Ministry of Culture has among its functions to convene and award merit recognition to creators, artists, people and organizations that contribute to culture in society. That is why in its seventh edition, the National Culture Award is dedicated to artists, creators, researchers and managers of the Social Sciences for the categories of Trajectory and Creativity, while for the category of Good Institutional Practices, applications will be received from organizations whose practices are related to any of the fields of cultural development.
Applications will be received from May 28 to August 28, 2018 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture and the Decentralized Directorates of Culture throughout the country. The bases can be downloaded at www.cultura.gob.pe/pnc.
