The Minister of Energy and Mines, Romulo Mucho, made a technical visit to the New Talara Refinery (NRT), in order to inspect the operation of this modern facility whose mission is to meet the national demand for fuels of different types. Romulo Mucho, accompanied by the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Iris Cárdenas, toured the facilities of the New Talara Refinery, such as the Control Room, the Flexicoking Unit and the Laboratory, among others, inspecting the processes carried out to produce more environmentally friendly fuels. The head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines highlighted the human talent that the NRT has, young and trained people who allow it to meet national demand on a daily basis and produce cleaner fuels, in strict compliance with current regulations. "This is a wonder and a source of pride for Peru," said Minister Romulo Mucho, who stated that Peru has to move forward towards the development of its hydrocarbon industry and the institutional strengthening of the Petroperú company. Likewise, he stressed that this modern facility is a fundamental pillar for Petroperú to fulfill its subsidiary role and continue bringing fuel to the most remote places in Peru. “We advocate for flexicoking to operate soon and I extend my full appreciation for your efforts,” he added. The tour was led by the vice president of the Petroperú Board of Directors, Oliver Stark, the general manager, Luis Gonzales; and the NRT technical team, who explained the various processes that are developed to produce clean fuels.
