The Minister of Energy and Mines, Alessandra Herrera Jara, carried out a technical inspection of the New Talara Refinery, a modern refining complex that is in its gradual and progressive start-up tests, with a view to starting its commercial operation in the last quarter of this year.

The head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) highlighted that this megaproject generates more than 3,000 total direct jobs monthly and has reached a maximum of 9,500 workers in the peak period of the construction stage. Likewise, she highlighted the presence of several women professionals, who work in the areas of operations and support of the New Talara Refinery.

The head of the MINEM was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Electricity, Martín Dávila; the chairman of the board of the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mines (Osinergmin), Omar Chambergo; the president of the board of directors of PETROPERÚ, Humberto Campodónico, as well as its general manager, Cristina Fung; among other sector officials.

During her tour, Herrera Jara verified that the gradual and progressive start-up tests continue to be carried out as scheduled and under the direction of PETROPERÚ's main contractors, as well as the licensors of the technologies used in the construction of the modern complex. refine.

The head of the MINEM visited the modern facilities of this refining complex, among which the Control Room, the Liquid Loading Dock and the Flexicoking Process Unit stand out, waste conversion technology that maximizes liquid yields and minimizes production of petroleum coke. The delegation also visited Lot I, currently operated by PETROPERÚ.

Herrera Jara also highlighted the social initiatives that PETROPERÚ has promoted in Talara, during the execution of this project, such as the donation of the Talara Modular Hospital, which to date has allowed the care of more than 39 thousand patients with COVID-19, among other actions for the benefit of the local community.
