They verified the current situation of the North Peruvian Pipeline and exchanged opinions about the Hydrocarbons Modernization Law, proposed by the Executive.

Loreto.- The Minister of Energy and Mines, Francisco Ismodes Mezzano, along with the members of the Work Group to Review and Update of the Hydrocarbons Law of the Congress of the Republic, visited Station 5 of Petroperu, located in Saramiriza, Loreto yesterday, with the purpose of getting to know the current situation of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) and exchanging opinions about the Law of Modernization of Hydrocarbons, proposed by the Executive and that the parliamentary committee has been revising for its improvement.

During the work session, held in the industrial zone of the Petroperu station, the Minister of Energy and Mines (MEM) stressed that "the government promotes investment in extractive activities such as mining, hydrocarbons and energy, but always respecting the legality, transparency, the environment and good relations with the populations ".

Ismodes Mezzano explained that in order to empower the hydrocarbon activities, guarantee energy security and make the country more competitive, the Energy and Mines Committee of Congress has promoted the project to modify the Organic Law on Hydrocarbons, to promote investments in the exploration and exploitation activities.

These and other initiatives, said the head of the MEM, are being developed to promote the hydrocarbons sector, "which takes on greater importance at times when our country is an importer of oil and because social investments can be made through royalties and canon that aim to close the gaps of poverty and inequality."

The visit to the North Peruvian Pipeline included Station 1 and the Contingency zones located at Km 24 and Km 103, Maintenance at Km 182 and finally the Industrial Zone of Station 5, where the ONP situation was exposed to Minister Ismodes and the congressmen led by the president of the Energy and Mines Committee, Miguel Román Valdivia, and the coordinator of the working group on Review and Updating of the Hydrocarbons Law, Juan Carlos del Águila.

This tour also made it possible to highlight the maintenance work that is given to the ONP and highlight the effort of workers and officials in this task.

After the meeting, Ismodes Mezzano highlighted the dialogue held at the behest of the congressmen and stressed that the articulated work between the Executive and the Legislative allows the development of initiatives in favor of the country.
