A delegation from the Association of Gas Stations and Service Stations of Peru (AGESP) made a guided visit to the New Talara Refinery, which is preparing to start its commercial operation in the last quarter of this year.

The visit of the delegation made up of senior managers of Primax, owners and administrators of faucets, gas centers and service stations nationwide, members of the AGESP, began with a presentation by the manager of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project and Management Department, Arturo Rodríguez Paredes.

During his presentation, Rodríguez Paredes specified the relevance and strategic role that the New Talara Refinery will have by increasing its production capacity by 45%, going from producing 65 thousand barrels per day to 95 thousand of fuels; providing greater energy security to the country through a flexible industrial infrastructure to process high-density or heavy crude oils; as well as the deep conversion of residuals into higher value products.

Subsequently, the visitors took a guided tour of this engineering and construction work that will have 16 process units and five auxiliary units and complementary services, two liquid loading docks and 21 storage tanks. In said event, they were accompanied by the general manager of the state company, Cristina Fung Quiñones and the corporate manager of the Talara Refinery, Óscar Vera Gargurevich.

Through these guided technical visits, which are carried out following the biosafety protocols established by the COVID-19 pandemic, Petroperú keeps its stakeholders informed about the construction of this modern refining complex that will allow the production of fuels with the required quality. by national and international environmental regulations.

The delegation ended its visit to Talara with a guided tour of the Block I facilities temporarily operated by Petroperú. During the visit they were able to learn about the work that is being carried out with qualified and experienced personnel for oil exploitation tasks and that have allowed optimal and sustained production levels, ensuring compliance with business objectives.
