Local authorities learned of the progress of the construction of the New Talara Refinery
A delegation of representatives of the institutions and associations of the city of Talara, made a guided visit to the facilities of the New Talara Refinery which is in its final stage of construction, with a view to beginning its gradual start-up of operations from next April.
The Provincial Deputy Prefect of Talara, Leyla Mogollón; the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Talara, Luis Canales; the director of the Talara II Health Center, Robin Estrada. Óscar Saavedra also attended on behalf of the Directorate of Hospital II de EsSalud; Major FAP Romel Trujillano from Air Base No. 11; Father Eduardo Palacios Morey from La Inmaculada Parish and Father NIles Viale from Santa Rosa Parish.
Following the biosafety protocols implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the visit began with the presentation of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT) by Eng. Arturo Rodríguez Paredes, Talara Refinery Manager, who reported that to date the construction progress of the new refinery complex is 96.56%.
During his presentation, Rodríguez Paredes stated that the New Talara Refinery has been being built with the highest international standards and patented technology by the companies EXXON Mobil (USA), Axens (France), UOP (USA) and Haldor Topsoe (Denmark), from greater recognition in the refining industry worldwide. This technology allows the New Talara Refinery to be classified as one of high complexity and deep conversion.
Later, the visitors took a guided tour of this engineering and construction work that will be composed of 16 Process Units and five packages of auxiliary units and facilities that will allow the production of cleaner fuels that ensure the preservation of air and the health of all Peruvians.
Stakeholders learn about the PMRT
PETROPERÚ continues to disseminate the Talara Refinery Modernization Project among its different stakeholders.
To date, more than 1,100 people have participated in informative meetings and virtual and face-to-face tours of the new facilities of the refinery complex, among which Congressmen of the Republic, officials of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru from the Lima and Piura headquarters have participated. , members of the Local Committee, the Communal Committee for Socio-environmental Monitoring of the PMRT, high school students, neighborhood leaders and the local population.
