Latest winners of the Copé Poetry Award shared details of their works at 2020 FIL LIMA

On the last Friday, August 28, the discussion on the poetry collection winner of the 2019 Copé Award “Expediente Vallejo”, by the writer Johny Barbieri, was successfully held as part of the 25th edition of the International Book Fair - FIL Lima 2020, which It is done through digital media, due to the health crisis.

In the discussion, the audience followed with attention the correct comments of the renowned Peruvian poet Hildebrando Pérez, through the YouTube channel FIL2020. "Barbiere's poems seem to be a haven, a small truce in the midst of the harshness of life we live today, that is why I celebrate even more the book we share today," said Pérez.

The collection of poems is a tribute to César Vallejo and is inspired by some of the 114 letters that the renowned Peruvian poet wrote to his friend Pablo Abril, as explained by the author himself. "I hope this book passes from hand to hand, from reader to reader, because it is really good," added Pérez, highlighting the benefits of a simple text that has a life of its own and that can be read even by readers who have a first approach with the poetry.

On Tuesday, August 25, a discussion was also held, this time with the winners of the 2019 Poetry Copé Awards - Silver and Bronze. In this virtual activity, the winners of these important awards participated: James Quiroz and his book "En los Bosques de Música Infinita" and Karen Vila with her collection of poems "Las Primeras Estaciones", in open dialogue with the writer and journalist César Bedón.

Both James Quiroz and Karen Vila shared with the audience details of the origin of their works, as well as the anecdotes that inspired the creation of the poetry books published by Ediciones Copé. Both young writers closed their participation in FIL Lima 2020 by reading excerpts from their poems that are part of their winning works for the audience.
