Italian pianist will offer concert "The image resonates - Music in cinema"

The notable Italian pianist and composer Orazio Sciortino will offer the virtual concert "The image resonates - Music in the cinema", this Sunday, April 25, at 4 pm. m., which can be enjoyed by the public through the Facebook Like of the PETROPERÚ Cultural Center.

In the free access show, presented by PETROPERÚ and the Lima Philharmonic Society, Orazio Sciortino will perform the soundtrack of three important silent films: A Straightforward Boy (1929), L'Etoile de mer de Man Ray (1928) and L'Assassinat du duc de Guise (1908), which highlight three different relationships between sound and image.

During the gala, Orazio Sciortino will perform Francis Poulenc's selection of piano compositions that were part of the film A Straightforward Boy, directed by YasujirÅ Ozu. The program will continue with the original music by Orazio Scartino himself and that was part of the short film L'Etoile de mer de Man Ray, directed by Man Ray, as well as the original music by Camille Saint-Saëns for the soundtrack of L'Assassinat du duc de Guise, directed by André Calmettes and Charles Le Bargy.

Orazio Sciortino collaborates with important musical institutions such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, La Fenice Theater Orchestra, Ravello Festival, RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Verona Philharmonic Academy, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, I Pomeriggi Musicali, among others. Commissioned by the Spinola Banna Foundation for Art, in 2016 he presented the short opera MeetHer, based on the composer's libretto, and recently composed Sol Invictus for choir and orchestra for the Teatro Lirico de Cagliari.

The PETROPERÚ Cultural Center maintains a varied agenda that includes conferences, workshops, reading clubs, concerts and other cultural activities with free access to the public of all ages.
