Iquitos Refinery raises the interest of students
Fifth grade secondary education students from various schools, interested in learning more about the Iquitos Refinery of PETROPERU, toured the facilities of the oil company, where they learned about the various processes and infrastructure required by this industry.
Throughout the visit, the students learned -among other topics- about the functions of the poliduct, which is used to transport the hydrocarbons from the Iquitos Refinery to the Sales Plant (located in the Punchana district).
Likewise, the students were told about the important work of the Iquitos Refinery in the development of the Loreto region, since it produces 84 and 90 octane gasolines; biodiesel B5, turbo A1 for aviation and industrial oil 6. All these hydrocarbons are transported by land and river to meet the demand of important Amazonian cities.
One of the topics that most attracted the attention of adolescents was the diversity of professions that this industry requires, as chemical engineers work, environmental engineers, petrochemical engineers, administrators, accountants, lawyers, doctors and communicators, among others.
It should be noted that visits like this allow the professional horizon of the students to be broadened, even more so bearing in mind that they are about to finish their studies and they are offered options to pursue, in the future, careers with great employment demand.
