Iquitos Refinery increases its gasoline storage capacity

Petroperú put tank 332-T-215 into operation at the Iquitos Refinery, adding 40,000 additional barrels of gasoline storage capacity. This addition was made with the goal of optimizing inventory management and strengthening fuel supply in the Amazon region.

The new storage tank began operating following supervision and approval by the Energy and Mining Investment Supervisory Agency (Osinergmin), which confirmed the proper technical, operational, and fire protection system performance. The regulatory body issued a favorable technical opinion in Inspection Report No. 551-2025-OS-GSE/DSHL, recently published, after evaluating the tests conducted last February. The tests evaluated the functioning of the cooling system, the foam system, the monitoring hydrants, and the foam chambers, confirming that the tests were satisfactory and met the established technical criteria, aligning with the NFPA 20 standard, as confirmed by Osinergmin.

"Our commitment is to continue implementing greater storage capacity in all of the company's operations, to strengthen and ensure the continuous supply of fuel throughout the country, including remote areas such as the jungle and the high Andean regions," said Alejandro Narváez Liceras, Chairman of the Board of Petroperú.

With this new infrastructure, Petroperú reinforces its commitment to operational efficiency, industrial safety, and compliance with regulatory standards, guaranteeing optimal conditions for the continuity of its operations and fuel supply in the Amazon.
